Peter Kingswell-Farr
DipPFS
Peter’s career in financial services began in 1986, and after working for several firms he was invited to build an IFA practice with Tony Davies and Jeffrey Baker, becoming a Director and co-owner at Baker Davies in 2000. He has thoroughly enjoyed growing the business with Tony into what is now a successful IFA firm, employing a team of more than 15 people and being responsible for an Appointed Representative firm working out of Wimborne. Collectively, they have increased the funds they look after to over £250 million and provided financial planning solutions, advice and wealth management to about 1000 clients.
Following the implementation of a suitable succession plan, Peter has spent the last year handing over the business to the new owners and is now able to focus on looking after clients. His aim is to work on a part-time basis later in the year, with a view to contemplating retirement in about 4 years.
Peter believes clients are at the heart of the business and central to everything Baker Davies does. Whether savers, investors or borrowers, the firm offers a friendly, reliable, trustworthy and professional service to all clients, and provides real solutions and advice in all financial matters.
He believes three principles have been key to the business’ decision-making and longevity. 1) Ensuring clients are well looked after and get the right advice at the right time. 2) That the team to enjoy their work and to take individual responsibility to create the best working environment. 3) Building a compliant, stable and sustainable business is vital.
Outside of the business, Peter enjoys running – including some coaching at Wimborne Athletics and marathons – raising money for charities, motorbiking, walking his dog, caravanning, eating out, drinking beer, going to gigs, music festivals, travelling and DIY.
